I like what Nas had to say in this article. I think people in today's society get so caught up on words and images, they lose site of the intent and the realities behind what those words represent. For example, "nigger." People spend so much time focusing on the word. If it's said by a politician, in a movie, in a song, etc. They lose site of the real issue - that there's still racism and inequality in this country. People should focus more on the realities and the intent, than trying to find every little phrase that might be said somewhere by someone in a public setting that could potentially be interpreted by some people as potentially being somewhat derogatory. |
