vk2yoc says: Eat a banana now, while you still can. The full article is a very interesting read. There's one article at Independent, and this explanation via Google search. I don't see much else to show concrete evidence of bananas going extinct. Whoa. In considering eating only locally grown foods, I thought about how I would miss bananas. This a very intersting clip. This is the first I've heard of this. In considering eating only locally grown foods,Mousie, Why would you consider such a thing? Should I consider this? Willhelm, my reasons are many, but off the top of my head, I really value the idea of eating in season, which I would be forced into by eating locally. I also have romantic ideals of "knowing" where my food originates and knowing the people that put their blood, sweat and tears (hopes and future) into the food I am eating. I like the idea of spending my money in my own community. I like the idea of cutting out the middle man in my food chain. I like the idea that the nutrients and flavors in my food are not getting lost in shipping from thousands of miles away. I love the idea of teaching my daughter that food has value, to appreciate that someone worked hard to grow that food for us,... Interesting. I love the idea of teaching my daughter that food has value, toThis is precisely why I have gotten more involved and expanded the size of my home garden. I can remember helping my granparents working in the garden, canning, and freezing the produce. I think it had a valuable impact on me. I do not want these skills lost, so I am trying to pass them down. Interesting... You know, usually, when I think of which food I'd miss the most if it disappeared, I wouldn't say bananas. But honestly, I'd really miss them. It could just be a rumour started to drive up the price of bananas just like they do everything else. Very interesting article. I too have never heard of this disease. My home is built on what used to be part of a banana plantation and I have a number of bananas trees still growing in my garden. It's banana season now and it's a race between the monkeys and us to see who reaches the next bunch of ripe ones first.. I love bananas. When I eat one it reminds me of how much of a monkey I am. Picture this, I am at work in front of my PC, in one hand a banana and the other hand scratching my head. Aint bananas great, well its becoming winter and our banana stocks are running low or tasting horrible. The sh*t is bananas Funny stuff. And a pun as compost made from banana waste is really good hmm - better enjoy them while we can - what a shame for my kids Maybe you could start freezing some to show your kids in case to do become extinct! They could even try them too! |
