The spider was sedated and is now down by the River Mersey being examoned by scientists. The worry is that it laid eggs before it was caught.

I saw the spider in Liverpool. I'd seen the giant elephant and girl puppets before (made by the same person who made the spider). There's something quite freaky about trying to escape from a packed street with a three storey spider bearing down on you.

You can watch it arrive at the city hall, wake up after a sleep and, in some dramatically speeded up footage (600x in fact!), crawl up a building to rest.
