rmowery says: His assumption is that everyone believes. His other assumption is everyone is Christian. That is two strikes on his justification. So at the moment he is breaking the US guidelines on separation of Church and State. I think the Romans tried the same approach centuries ago - enforcing the logic of War based on their religion? When faith-based decision making is on an individual level, it's okay because failure can be blamed on god, i.e., it wasn't a part of his plan, and so forth.. But when used to run a country, the excuse is not so easy. Everybody suffers at the expense of the superstition. We are all paying for it; the Iraqi children and innocent civilians, our military and their wifes and families, and the drain of our economic resources. But look where the majority support is coming from. The Christian right wing. It's like they never read a bible in their lives. It's a common theme, and they get angry when pointed out, but they won't let go of these destructive beliefs. If we don't eventually shake it, it will eventually kill us all. |
