It was an experiment “in context, perception and priorities — as well as an unblinking assessment of public taste: In a banal setting at an inconvenient time, would beauty transcend?”</P></blockquote><div style="height: 2px; font-size: 2px; background: #dcdcdc; border-bottom: solid 1px #f5f5f5; margin: 2px 4px;"></div><blockquote style="text-align: left; padding: 0px 8px; margin: 4px 0px 8px 0px; background: transparent; border: none;" cite="http://jeffberryman.wordpress.com/2007/07/08/too-busy-for-beauty/"><P>In a stunning revelation, beauty definitely did not transcend.  Few, very few of the just over one thousand commuters who hustled by Bell on their way to work that morning even noticed there was anyone playing, and those that did rarely listened to more than a couple of notes.  In the end, Bell made around $35 for nearly 45 minutes of playing.   He, of course, was surprised that people “ignored” him.
