The REAL Napster says: Isn't that lovely. I'm pretty sure there is NO big busness left that's not as corrupt as can be. Sad but true. Of course they do. They are in business to make a profit. This means making enough money on every drug released to cover not only it's research and development costs, but the research and development costs of all the drugs that fail. If we want all drugs at generic prices, then we are going to have to settle for just the drugs that exist today because no company is going to take a loss in order to add a new generic to it's line up. Or we could subsidies them. I'd rather see my tax dollars spent on that than on Congressional office furniture. Or anything for Congress, for that matter. I know they do. A prescription I have been on was suppose to be made generic by another company last year but the brand name maker fought it and won. I was so upset. Or we could subsidies them. I'd rather see my tax dollars spent on that than on Congressional office furniture. Or anything for Congress, for that matter. But your tax dollars would be spent on both. And if there is one thing the government does better than any private organization that is waste money. So in the end, you would end up paying just as much for drugs, you would just be paying it all the time no matter if you are buying drugs or not because the government would be taking it right out of your paycheck. If high drug prices are really such a concern, set yourself up a savings account and that way if you never need those high priced drugs you get to keep the money you... I'm amazed that the health insurance companies aren't fighting this tooth and nail. Getting generics to market seems to be the #1 thing they can do to make more money, unless there is something in it for them to let expensive meds stay on the market. |
