Dr. William Gray, climatologist and hurricane expert, quoted in statement to U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works:

"The potential for climate modeling mischief and false scares from incorrect climate model scenarios is enormous. Numerical modeling output gives an air of authenticity which is not warranted by the input physics and long periods of integration. How many more climate scares are we to see from climate models which are not able to realistically predict past and future climate changes let alone future decadal or century changes?"

Funny thing, I'm reading a magazine article the other day that was bemoaning the LACK of hurricanes this year. The author was whining that hurricanes are needed to cool the atmosphere and the downturn in activity this year would lead to an increase in global warming. Of course, before the downturn, the reports were that global warming would cause more and bigger huricanes, so we had to prepare for more Katrinas. Interesting how they interpret any data in support of global catastrophe, isn't it?

There is no such thing as a static climate. To most it is ever changing. To some it is always heading for disaster. How can the level-headed be right when everything is cause for alarm?

Interesting relevant fact: Today I heard there was an admission from the UN that that they were wrong ( the "scientists" that is) in their projections and alarm-ism regarding AIDS. I guess we will have to wait a quarter century for the same admission regarding this latest hysteria.

Good point, willhelm. I saw the same reports and even clipped one. Nice to see work can take me away for a bit but I can still come back and find the same sharp minds amongst my peers.
