We don't pronounce our "th" properly Ye, in Irish the 'h' silences the letter preceding, often a t. So McGrath is pronounced like McGra. This appears to happen even to non Irish speakers. A fada is the opposite, putting emphases on the letter example bán (woman) The prefix Mc or Mac or Ó indicates the son of. Ní indicates daughter of and is increasingly used again. heh heh. |
