We need another Ron Reagan..... Thanks for the excellent clip, Willhelm. The Reagan Years were the happiest years of my life experience, and that includes the '50s. In 1948, I caddied for his first wife, actress Jane Wyman, at the exclusive, Jewish Members-Only, Hollywood Golf Club, in Deal, NJ. She was the guest of Adam and Bernard Gimbel, of NYC's Gimbel's Department Store. Lew Ayres, her paramour, was in the Foursome. Looking back on how beautiful she was, kind, and affectionate, and what a charismatic, all-American, wholesome figure was Ronald Reagan, her betrayal of her marriage vows to him seems somehow surreal. Reagan was the "greed is good" president. He taunted the USSR and nearly got us into a war with them on at least one occasion. He basically robbed the US treasury by tripling deficit spending, most of the money going to his rich buddies. He was borderline incoherent for half of his presidency, which was run by his even more evil vice president, Bush Sr. Before Reagan got into office, America actually used to produce things, but he encouraged the corporate fat cats to shut down their plants and ship them overseas. If there is a hell, Reagan is burning in it. If there is a hell, Reagan is burning in it.President Reagan, if that is where you are, I dedicate this poem to you. Thanks for inspiring me to believe that I could do it on my own. "PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING" by Steve Savage http://sskotb.blogspot.com/2007/11/thanksgiving-prayer-by-steve-savage.html |
