Where are the "pro-life" people when you need them? If they would only be so adamant about protecting the "already born"...

It's because they really aren't pro life. They are more like pro-forced-morality-by-their-standards.

Religion is the root of so much evil!

Actually, I think its mankind's tendency to accept fantastical things over reality and the tendency of people to identify their beliefs with themselves personally so that any conflict or resistance to their beliefs is met as if the person themselves are being attacked.

There are many examples of these conflicts such as :

UFO's
Evolution
Global Warming
Young Earth Creation
Crop Circles
Homeopathy
Autism / Vaccination
Moon Hoax
Religion
etc.

On one side of each of these debates is loads of data, evidence, and rational thought while on the other side are loads of anecdotal evidence, faith in being right, and a willing ease to ignore facts or make them up as needed.
