ratilfar says: If Salon's publication of these photos helps the military reform its culture and more effectively aid traumatized Iraq War vets before they get suicidal, this family will have done a great service. As the ultimate act of humiliation, the military promised Pvt. Adam Lieberman's mother the charge of defacing government property would go away if she painted over his suicide note ... then they charged him anyway. The army sure knows how to inspire trust and respect, don't they. What they did to that poor soldier and his family was criminal. What really gets my goat is what they did to the mother, as if their child, a man that fought for his country was some kind of punk kid who misbehaved. Military suicides outnumbered combat deaths in January '09. |
