"What are we morally allowed to do to save our lives?"
"Allowed?" Allowed by who or what? A particular religion's morality, or a more natural morality, or even by a set of laws imposed on us by a particular society?

In nature, I can do whatever it takes to preserve my life. That said, I am also part of a particular society and I must take into account what that society considers "immoral." So, if I do something that violates societal standards, I may still lose my life by being judged and sentenced, by my "society," by "wrongfully" saving my life previously.
