blueridge says: near Iran border. But will anyone criticize this position? I guess your point is no one in the media will criticize it. But I will (as I'm sure others will also.) The last thing we need are more permanent or semi-permanent bases outside of US borders. I think we need to close foreign bases, not increase their number. There are many places where a US base abroad would be welcomed as it usually comes with a baseload of cash and goodies for the hosts, but it's time for such military expansionism to come to a complete stop. I doubt that a) the other Iraqi factions would go along with this since it is a naked attempt at securing an independent Kurdistan and b) no I won't support bases anywhere in Iraq, period. arre with both comments and have for a lon time--no more US Imperial military bases...or McDonalds. Obama is turning into an even bigger disappointment than I thought--but I'm not surprised. Ratilfar, have you considered that the Kurds are scared of their fellow countrymen? or the Iranians for that matter? Not just being selfish in attempting to establish an independent Kurdistan. If you have faced the horrors these folks have at the hands of their "neighbors" you'd want protection too. I agree that bases are a bad idea. It's kind of the reason we are in the mess that we are in. Much of the anger in the Arab world comes from (supposedly) their dis satisfaction of their own governments allowing us to conduct military operations within their borders. I guess your point is no one in the media will criticize it.Not just the media, but the Democrat establishment, nor present Obama supporters will criticize their "change" candidate for continuing the "war on terrorism" which is actually for "regime change" consistent with the neoconservative blueprint. Why support a candidate who only TALKS different but continues the same war policy and agenda? Have been trying to point this out in several clips. But Party Blindness prevails.
