pkronfield says: Even the defiled NY Times publishes the fact that the surge decision was correct and, against all odds, produced victory. No other man could have had the courage and foresight to stay the course and pick the right military leaders to defeat the enemy and bring safety and prosperity to a suffering people. God bless George W. Bush. If he hadn't screwed Iraq up in the first place he wouldn't have needed the surge. Typical politicians, they pay their debts off to their friends and financiers, and then fix the mess they created and get hailed as heroes. Open your eyes man. Bush's only error was in being human. American presidents are not graded for their all knowing prescience or their infallibility - I don't think we have ever had one of these. Washington made a lot of errors against the British, lost many men, and many Americans blamed him for infuriating the British and bringing down calamity and ruination. Truman was reviled and had lower popularity ratings than Bush, left office in the middle of an unpopular war. Lincoln lost battle after battle and incomprehensible deaths, until after changing generals time and again finally found the winning combination. These men are not remembered for their mistakes and blunders, but for their successes. My ... My eyes are very open. Mind you I was in Iraq, visiting with Republican Guard staff officers in Basra and Baghdad in 1988 just after their war finished against Iran.Maybe this is your problem. The military doesn't exactly have a habit of disagreeing with a commander-in-chief, do they? And your comparison to Lincoln is humorous, Lincoln is remembered as being one of the worse decision makers in the history of US warfare. Anyone whose ever paid attention to history, that is. I would encourage everyone to start ignoring pkronfield's post. He is a bigot and a right wing wacko who needs to be ignored. Welcome to the world of liberalism! If what you say or believe isn't poltically correct you are not free to express your opinions. Ataxia (from Greek α- (used as a negative prefix) + -τάξις (order), meaning "lack of order") |
