This reminds me of nothing so much as Ian Smiths unilateral declaration of independence in Rhodesia on 11 November 1965 - right down to Beethoven's Ode to Joy, which was adopted as the national anthem of Smith's Rhodesia.

And the assurances of ethnic justice can be trusted just as much as Smtih's.
