I have always believed there is life out there! with so many planets, there has to be!

Why do people who do believe that there is life on others planets somewhere in this vast endless universe always assume they won't be as evolved as us? Really we haven't been on this planet earth for very long, mere seconds actually compared to the age of the universe, and look what we've done to it. We are on the brink of destroying it and everything on it. If there is life on other planets just maybe they are smarter than we are. We haven't been that smart so far.

I am certain that whatever life there is out there, it could very well be much more intelligent than us. Wouldn't it be great to meet them?
