Oh give me a break, this is like picking up a single grain of sand on the beach and examining it for gold and declaring its absence proves gold is fictional.

Or the needle in a hay stack. But the hay stack is infinite. And life could be like a dust might. Ever see a dust might with the naked eye?

It makes no difference.

"The Universe is Big. Really big. It may seem like a long way to the
corner chemist, but compared to the Universe, that's peanuts."
- Douglas Adams, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Seriously, the majority of people simply have never really sat down to contemplate how big the universe is. Compared to the sun the earth is a Speck and compare our sun to some of those others out there and it is a speck.

Now consider distances. Lightyears are used for measurement - its the distance that light travels in 1 year. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second. Multiply that by 60 seconds ...

This website might also help one to understand the vast distances with more common everyday items used to represent scale.

Another one to simply show how small we really are

That does put our insignificance (in the grand scale of things) in perspective.

Thanks Oortcloud.

Personally, I believe there has to be other intelligence out there, if we are as "bright" as the universe can hope for, what a waste....
