Some days ago, our daughter told us she will get married. She lives about 400km far from us. I'll take her to the altar and I would like to do it by walking from home (Lugano) to Geneve. Maybe I'll miss out the path and I'll not arrived in time...

Thank you. I walked back and forth the day Jessica was born; I walked many other times, when she needed it and I'll walk to her wedding day. My daughter keeps me moving!

By that time, I had done about 60% of the trip in bits and pieces over the years and only three more trips were needed to complete it. It took 22 years to do 22 days walking but some of those were half days and it would take four weeks to reproduce it, with a sensible scattering of rest days. It is not Kev Reynolds 'Alpine Passes Tour' although it co-incides in many places, nor is it necessarily the 'best' tour. This account is made up of slightly edited diary entries and excerpts from notes from before I kept a diary. I have included notes of other parts of the individual trips in italics to show the context of the stages in the tour. Most of it was done alone and I have indicated where I was accompanied.
