"In addition, the pope said Thursday, Jesus celebrated Passover "without a lamb, as did the Essene community," which did not sacrifice animals. "Instead of the lamb he offered himself, he offered his life," Benedict added." Well, the Pope can say He didn't eat the Passover Lamb if he wants to, but in truth, Jesus told his disciples to make arrangements for the Passover (which they did) and He would have followed the Mosaic Law if He was to "fulfill the Law". He would have gone to the Temple over the course of His life and joined in the Temple celebrations which involved eating of meat. And then again, he prepared fish for his disciples after the resurrection. Is it suggested that that which He prepared, He did not eat? Then there's the encounter with Peter by the Spirit, Who told him not to call "unclean that which God had declared clean". It is 'real conveneint' isn't it to goto the grocery store and grab that shrink wrapped meat package; take it home fry it and eat it down as if not taking responsibilty for how it got there. to jatfla: do you forget so quickly that jesus told them NOT to sacrifice animals in the temple???..sometimes people have really SHORT memories; when its convenient to their abysmal habits  THe bible SAYS in genesis to eat only the fruits of the land yet man in his infinite wisdom thinks its ok to do othewise,- even though if we all 'thought about it' for even a moment or two we would all come to the realisation ( well at least most women; men typically have the 'hunter mentality' so we can't be too ... |
