Why bother going to school if you are going to be disruptive and not interested.
The fine is stupid unless the parents use it to get her attention while she makes a few decisions.
Are schools so short on discipline that they have to do this sort of thing? No wonder achievement levels are dropping.
Non supportive parents, who automatically took the child's side, were the biggest problem when I was teaching. Apparently they are acting this way because they see it as less trouble to be onside with the child.

@tabsey, it can go both ways. I had problems because my parents automatically assumed I was at fault when there was trouble at school. They always took the teachers' (or even the other kid's) side and left me to grow up with the conviction that I could do nothing right.
