People are not God. And regardless on how any of us might feel about any particular truth, it is what it is.

And there is indeed only one God. His name is Jesus. And He loves you. Even if you believe that tree outside your door is a god.

Just because people use a religion for malignant purposes, that does not make the religion evil, just those people. The New Testament is full of warning against leaders who use faith as a form of social control.
This is a problem of people buying into authoritarianism, not religion.

People have always been cruel to each other whether religion is involved or not. It is illogical to claim the proof is easy to see by looking at the last 2000 years. Guns don't kill people, people kill people- same with religion. Religion is a tool to use (or abuse). I prefer to have hope God will cure humanity of its ill-will, religion offers that. Guns only offer death and no more.

Guns are quite handy in the prevention of deaths.
