When I was really just at the beginning of a change in consciousness regarding world politics, I had my first such encounter with a self proclaimed "anti-war Liberal". It was in China and we (all of us being English teachers) were all seated for dinner in a pretty nice restaurant. The discussion turned to Bush, and the war in Iraq....and when I voiced support for said action....this guy flipped out, much like you think a 2 year old might act when denied some candy. He was about 55. He threw his plate, screamed so loud I thought he might have a heart attack, and finally shut up when another teacher stepped in.

I was truly shocked. But I just smiled and said "thanks for sharing", lol.

Inside, my heart was beating like crazy, I couldn't believe someone would act like that during a mere discussion. But the thing was, it had become so acceptable to just be "against all things Bush"...that I don't think he had encountered anyone with an opposing opinion in months (most teachers I met over there were by far overwhelmingly Liberal leaning on most issues)

Poor baby, I hope he has recovered from the trauma
