As heinous a man as he sounds, (and he really does) the debate over " repressed memories" is very real. Far as I understand, this has been controversial for quite a few years now--with hair raising tales on both sides.

i agree with antara. I myself am ww2 historian and have vivid dreams over and over again of being in germany during ww2. Always same senario and as real as if was there. So don't know if that is repressed memory of a past life expierance or if i am just nuts from researching ww2 so much...lol

During Shanley's trial, the then 27-year-old victim testified that he never remembered the abuse until 2002 when news reports of other men accusing Shanley of sexual assault triggered his own memories -- disturbing scenes of Shanley pulling him out of Sunday school over a six-year period to rape and grope him in the bathroom, the confessional and the pews. Shanley had pleaded not guilty.
