<P><A href="http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/">Emacs</A> の初期設定ファイルが、.emacs だというのは有名な話。</p> <P>Emacs 20.4 からは、.emacs.el というファイル名も使える。.emacs と .emacs.el の両方がホーム・ディレクトリーにある場合、.emacs.el が優先的に読み込まれる。.emacs.el のメリットは、byte-compile がかけて、起動にかかる時間を短くできること。</p> <P>更に Emacs 22 (開発版) からは、.emacs.d/init.el というファイル名も使えるようになる (もちろん byte-compile 可)。こちらは、ホームに .emacs ファイルがない場合に読み込まれる。最近の Emacs は、~/.emacs.d 以下に Emacs 関連の設定ファイルを置けるようになってるから、場所を統一する意味でも ~/.emacs.d/init.el を使うようにするといいかもしれない。</p> <P>Emacs 22 の NEWS には</p> <BLOCKQUOTE>
