laceym says: From the guy that brought us the Skeptics Annotated Bible. This is nutsooo....but interesting from a non-believing perspective. My favorite Old Testament book is Jeremiah and favorite New Testament book is Romans. I adhere to the concept that IF it's true then I gained everything. IF it's not true, I've lost nothing. I can say that last part because I live in America and freedom to practice and discuss religion is a protected "right". I often wonder how committed and dedicated I would be if persecution and death were involved. There is nothing like suffering to make you confront what you really believe. (sorry if I intruded on your serious post.) No problem jatfla. Thanks for contributing. To me it's all good in that I try to never miss the "more than literal" meanings, the political meanings, and the rich history. Of course, when we would say "This is the word of the Lord" in Mass, I would always think "Or some words of wisdom from ancient Israel" Now revised. A book might have a few good things to say, but have twice as many cruel and intolerant ideas. http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogspot.com/2007/03/best-book-in-bible-revisted.html |
