I had become addicted to politics during the Clinton years, but it was during the 2000 election (like most every American) that I began to be tuned in like never before. I remember the President's speech before the UN and this is how I remember the events. It *was* about weapons inspectors/inspections, the ignoring of the UN's resolutions, and regime change. I believed the President was attempting to put some teeth back into the operation of the UN with the commitment to see that it's resolutions, by anyone, were no longer disregarded. Alas, it was much more corrupted than most of us thought and seems beyond redemption. It needs to go the way of the League of Nations.
