I didn't really understand their was a social networking part to it when I joined. I just like the option of clipping parts of source documents to quote in research. What I really like is that not everyone agrees with everyone else, yet we bring dialogue to the table. Thanks for your insights, perspectives and conversations. I joined 12-2-2005 and when I joined clips were public but there wasn't a cliplimit or pops. The community was small and we enjoyed many 'inside' jokes. Sometimes those 'inside' jokes still surface. I have seen many members come and go. When I started I primarily used clipmarks for archiving my bookmarks. I have used about every feature available here at least once. When they limited clips to 2000 characters I was concerned that there wouldn't be enough room to share a page correctly. I got used to 2000 limits quickly. When they changed it to 1000 and made all the clips in archives over 1000 private I was angry because many of my archived bookmarks automatically went private. Cliplimit is ... The older you get, the quicker the birthdays seem come around Happy birthday, hope you have many more. skwirlinator: I didn't think about 2000 character clips becoming private, but I suppose that just means more privacy. I got a bit annoyed about the character reduction, when it went to a thousand characters. Then I thought now I'd better learn how to edit. By now there must be a lot of clips archived. Sometimes if there isn't enough room someone will ask a question that was answered by the article but to have included it would have taken a lot more characters.
