While I am not happy that North Carolina has two laws on the books preventing gay marriage or recognizing gay marriages from other states, I am thrilled that the Democratic controlled congress realizes that writing discrimination into the state constitution is wrong and refuses to be bullied by bible thumping bigots. Great news! Kudos to the Democratically-controlled legislature! Bad news! Not discrimination, not bigotry, not gay-hate, not ignorance......beliefs. We can ALL still believe in something can't we? It is bigotry and it is hate. You are welcome to your beliefs but you might want to do some research on the few phrases that keep getting pulled out of the King James Bible. They only appeared when that version was printed. Instead of being led blindly by hate mongering ministers and politicians, you might want to open your mind to the teachings of Jesus which were about love not hate. You might want to open your mind to the ALL of the teachings of Jesus and stop trying to eliminate the parts that do not coincide with your views. You cannot twist and contort the truth to accommodate untruth. It has nothing to do with hate. I have the right to believe it is wrong, just like you can believe it is OK. Doesn't make me blind or close-minded. What foundation do you have that persuades you that it is OK, yourself? At least I am believing in something. Sometimes your open-mindeness can cause you to be blind. |
