My issue with "shooting from the hip" is that my camera's auto focus isn't fast enough, and It doesn't have any image stabilization... So many of my photos shot n impulse come out blurry..

@CatWhisperer: If you're in the market for a camera in the future, take a look at the canon powershots. The image stabilization in my S3 IS is awesome!

gtk, I am thinking of getting a new one this spring/summer. I was looking at the new canons, just wasn't sure it the image stabilization was "all that".. but i guess it is

I have a Canon Powershot A550 which takes amazing pictures, but it still has that time delay that a professional camera doesn't. My professional photographer husband is teaching me how to live with it for now.

I also have a Canon A550 and love it for it's portability and amazing capabilities. Even the zoom is impressive. Beats the hell out of my old Olympus OM10 SLR!

If you get the Canon Powershot, CompUSA has had some amazing deals on cards. I recently hit their last sale and got a 2-gig memory card for $30.

I see now I'll have to power up my Flickr account and show off a few of my shots.
