The photo and the pastor's comments pretty much speak for themselves. I probably wouldn't have clipped this except for the final paragraph in the clip -- "we are definitely trying to open up dialogue." This baffles me. I wonder what they're actually trying to accomplish -- presumably the primary purpose of the sign is illocutionary in nature. To the pastor, I would point out that "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are beneficial" (1 Cor. 6.12). Is this beneficial?

Meh. You have one verse.

I would point out the 164 Jihad Verses in the Koran.

Is this beneficial?

I wouldn't say Islam is of the devil. I just don't understand that whole thing about blowing yourself up so you can spend the afterlife with 72 male virgins that look like Kim Jong Il.

for the record, these kinds of comments are the main reason I've basically given up on Clipmarks.

Let's have a logical discussion. Islam may not be the devil, but make no mistake...Islam has declared war on anybody that doesn't buy into their madeness. The very definition of Islam is "peace" IF (and this is a huge IF) "one submits and surrenders to their god and sharia way of life." IF you don't...all bets are off and there is NO peace.

We should have a debate on Islam. It is the cause of over 95% today's wars and conflicts.

The facts are clear...1,400 years ago war was declared on us by an ideology of hate and violence which arose at the time and was proclaimed by a barbarian who called himself the Prophet Mohammed. Of course, I am referring to Islam.

The foundation of the Isl...

Gosh enbar, what's wrong?

The sign, no doubt about it, got peoples attention. Your verse choice was a good one because the words are not particularly "beneficial". The same sentiment should have/could have been said in a more tactful way.

According to the Judeo-Christian Scriptures, Islam is a false religion with a false god and a false prophet. An authentic Christian church would state this as true. Perhaps the pastor was a little to blunt for the current cultural climate.

I believe saying that a religion or way of life is "of the devil" is simply wrong. Perhaps those who have put up the sign are doing the work of Satan and don't realize it. Isn't it on of his purposes to create discord and anger among others so that he can have an easier job?

Ha! What a great article. Thanks enbar. It's important to step back and look at both sides.

Sooooo. Which side is actually the devil.

Islamic violence... or Christian violence? Hmmmm. Which religion subscribes to hating the other? Hmmmm. This is going to be a toughy.

Let's look at the history of each. Hmmmm. Again. Hard to tell if any divine guidance exists between them. Let me see. Jesus is god. And god is a jealous, raging, kill everybody lunatic while Jesus is a peace loving hippy. No, he can't be the same as god, soooo... Let's look at Mohamed. "Kill the infidel!"

Hey, that seems more like the god we know in the old testament, sooo...

Mohamed kills... god kills... Jesus says "turn...

Correction (on my part) Secular Humanism.

You said: Anything goes in Human Secularism..?

You might start by looking up "Secular Humanism" jatfla, I think you'll find a code of ethics most 'humane".
