Read an article the other day where Ford is making a Fiesta for the European markets that is diesel, 60 plus miles to the gallon, says it will not sell in USA because Americans are not yet use to diesel, being made by the Brits, go figure. Look in car trading adds, people all over the country are trying to find VW diesel Rabbits still in working condition, we are being duped again. It will probably take a sizable federal tax on inefficient new vehicles. Plus, states could reduce annual registration fees on efficient vehicles and raise them on inefficient ones, based on their EPA mileage estimates. Say, any non-commercial vehicle that gets <30 mpg has double the registration fee; <20, triple. masbury, I agree 100%, give exceptions to farmers and contractors, etc., maybe a special plate with exemptions for the people that serve the public, not politicians, the jury is still out on whether they serve the public. |
