I use tab mix plus. The close buttons are hidden, but appear a short mouse-over. This is very lean and efficient.

Or... just point to any part of any tab and click the middle-button on your mouse.

I just tried this. Its alright...and i didn't know you could middle click on tabs to close them either!

Middle click addict here. I use it for closing tabs, opening closed tabs, and opening links in new tabs all the time. I don't even have the close buttons showing on tabs or on the bar.

      <P><DIV><SPAN>Ok </SPAN>I'll try to be short. When you open many tabs(more then 8-10 tabs) in Firefox, the "close button" disappears . This was made to look good but at least for me it's annoying because i need first to click on the target tab in order to see it and then close it.</DIV><BR />You can set in Firefox to see the whole tab when there are many.
