Touchy-feely is a series of oils on chalkboard by Toronto artist Kirsten Johnson who conceived of the idea of using sock puppets as subjects during convalescence after being hit by a car. Johnson sought comfort in the notion of a sock puppet show that never took place, and eventually created portraits of them. Her use of chalk to describe the emotion portrayed suggests the transitory nature of feelings and the irony of even seeking out emotion in a sock.
