jatfla says:
Oh please. While I believe the officer acted appropriately and the President regrets his words, this is ridiculous. Surely there are much more pressing issues to be dealt with and resolved than to waste time on this stupid stuff. Whether Dem/Rep, this is a waste of taxpayers money when time could be better spent on more serious stuff. Or maybe they can't deal with the more serious stuff.

I heartily second the "oh, please" sentiment. Sheesh.

I agree with you, Jatfla. However, I doubt Lexica would drop the issue if the tables were reversed. Only because evidence suggests Gates and Obama were the ones who "acted stupidly" do they wish for this to just go away.

Meanwhile whilst the mainstream media gets obsessed over something trivial yet again the government quietly slips a progressively larger noose around the neck of the American people.

Disputable.

According to established MA state case law, Gates, never committed disorderly conduct from start to finish, not even while hurling (probably incorrect) accusations of racism at a cop in public, in front of witnesses.

Yelling abusive at a cop in public (whatever one thinks of the act) is not illegal in MA.This is why the charges were dropped.

Having the authority and powers of law enforcement improperly used against you as retaliation for what he did could be cons...

While I agree that there are more pressing issues, I have come to the conclusion that the more time congress spends with meaningless crap the better. At least then they aren't spending their time screwing the country up.

Care to provide a citation to back that up?

There's a little thing called the separation of powers that says that the President is part of the executive branch of the US government, and Congress is part of the legislative branch of the government. They are not the same, and neither one has right of oversight/approval over the other.

Are you serious? I mean, really!

This is what we have to deal with in this country. Unreal!

Just for clarification...

Are you saying that Lexica (and the page she linked to) are incorrect about the separations of powers between the various arms of our government, and that the whole idea of "checks and balances" we grew up learning about in social studies class is in fact a misinterpretation?

Are you asserting that our government does indeed function under a different principle and thereby expressing incredulity at the fact that people believe that the "Separation of Powers"?

Anything the president does is the business of Congress. Congress represents the people. Anything the president does or says is the business of the people. Don't be freakin' idiot!

Your understanding of the three branches of the US government is naïve and wrong.

Congress has just as much right to scold the president as he does to scold them, and he frequently tries to tell congress what to do.

Lexica, You freakin loon. If you do not believe every action, word, or deed the president does is not the business of the people and the Congress, then I can't help you. You are lost and blinded in your own idiot world! I am not talking about the Constitutional roles of the branches of government as it relates to laws. I'm talking about the business of the people. That is more than the constitutional roles of governments in regard to legislation. If Obama so much as whispers to his wife in private that he hates America, then it is the business of the Congress and the people. You are freakin' unbelievable.
