This could be a huge medical breakthrough, but I can't help feel a little bad for the rats!

"Sooo, I guess for this next test we could smash them with hammers?"

"How about, let's put them on pins and see how much of this stuff we have to give them before they don't mind."

"ooooh, that's a good one"

Does this mean I can make money from my spit? Maybe they will create Spit Banks - give ya a tube and ya go in and spit in the jar (no chew tobacco though).

Perhaps this is why I've always felt better trying to embed my head in some female's throat

It's probably some strange chemical compound that has to be isolated from saliva before it's of any use, so that's why your mouth isn't pain free, and we aren't spitting on our wounds.

I support animal testing for MEDICAL purposes, but for nothing else. Even though yes, animals are living beings too, self-preservation through their sacrifice is acceptable. However, testing for cosmetic purposes is absolutely unnacceptable.

And that saliva thing is really nifty. Does anyone know if it's got the same addictiveness as morphine, or was that in the clip and I just missed it?

That actually makes sense of the whole thing.

Umm, THAT should explain why kissing is good for one's health. More of those.

Those of you who eschew animal testing really ought to look into what your world would be like without it. I do not support it for cosmetic testing etc. but for medical purposes it is quite necessary.
If you were in pain and unable to take morphine and needed something like this saliva derivative you would not think about the rats, only think of your own need to be out of pain.
Heart shunts, replacement hips, medicines: all tested on animals.
And they will probably come up with a synthetic version...
