Somehow knowing that a movie is "chopped up) and rearranged, kind of takes the "magic" out of it. But I am looking forward to seeing the "correct" version. Well all movies are "chopped up" its the nature of the art. I have heard it said (from Roger Ebert mouth) that editing is the soul of a movie. A well edited movie flows effortlessly through the screen a badly edited one sinks. Digital Bits has a rundown on the different upcoming DVD editions of BladeRunner. I am really looking forward to getting that 5-disc edition. How many cuts are we up to now? Jeez, I love this movie, but I've bought each edition; VHS, DVD and then DVD Director's cut, now another director's cut? I think I'll wait now for the "Director's Girlfriend's Roommate's Cousin's Cut with the added commentary by Harrison Ford's Widow." I'm sure it'll be out in five more years. And it should be the version you judge the film by.Then what the ____ was the director's cut then, eh? Smells very much like money to me. |
