So true...so very damn true!

You wonder why our military is stretched too thin...why we need Asia and the Middle East to bail out our banks...why we haven't embraced alternatives to oil like Asia and Europe have...why we haven't caught Bin Laden...

Maybe it's because we keep electing people that seem cool to hang out with but aren't capable of leading the world's most powerful nation.

How about George Bush and Sarah Palin start a tv show called "politicians that seem fun to hang out with" and we start electing more boring but gifted people as President.

Polling in Germany, France, Britain and Russia shows that Obama would win by whopping majorities, with the pattern repeated in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. If November 4 were a global ballot, Obama would win it handsomely. If the free world could choose its leader, it would be Barack Obama.
As much as I am sure you and your minions would like to let these people vote in our elections, Goldstein...they can't!

I couldn't have crafted a more accurate description of Barack Obama...esp the "cool to hang out with" factor. What concerns me the most about Obama is the very fact that he DOES overthink many matters. We had a ponderer, overanalyzer, micromanager in Jimmy Carter and his Presidency overall was abysmal.

http://www.chomsky.info/interviews/20080630.htm discusses the fact that the American people are basically irrelevant in the selection and election of the president.
As bad as Bush has been for America, there is nothing the people can do to change that with the next candidates. McCain could revert to the Bush strategies (or be told to). Obama may be persuaded by advisors (or told) to keep the Iraq war going, or the Afghan war, or Georgia, or Iran, or Venezuala.
Actually Bush only has to exacerbate one of these situations and he can stay on and blow the whole world up. Then the planet can cleanse itself for a new race.

"...historical decline..." I thought for sure he was talking about Europe.

The attacks on Palin are even dumber than all those *poof* claims already made against her. People can keep on talking about "lipstick on pitbulls" (or pigs, whatever), but it doesn't change the fact that she has just as much, no more, executive experience than Obama...and she isn't even running for President!

So Europe doesn't like McCain or Palin. So Code Pink doesn't either. So Obie and Matthews doesn't. I don't care about their opinions. Frankly, a person's character can usually be more clearly known by those who oppose them.

Character? Putting someone who sidled-up to a secessionist movement for political (or worse, personal) reasons a heartbeat's away from the presidency? That's not poor decision making, that's treason.

Now warmongers who are for military and against health insurance need to explain something to me. My 23 yr old baby brother is now signing up for the military for one reason--health insurance for his family. His job working with plastics in a factory provides him with insurance, but he can't afford it for his wife, step-daughter, or new baby. So, he feels he has to put himself in the position of going to war, to make sure his baby doesn't go untreated. Is this a pro-life position or just funny because it puts a working class twenty-something in harm's way?

The bigger question, in my mind is, how and why we let these things happen time after time? Previous elections have had campaigns run on nastiness and negativity and they have won at the expense of our country and the world.

Why can't we seem to stop this?

Warmongers are only out to make profits and benefit the already rich, the sooner you realize that the better. Unfortunately many people are brainwashed into ignorance and manipulation. Dan Rather puts it more eloquently:

The McCain campaign denies that Palin ever joined the AIP. But while it is in dispute whether she attended its 1994 convention, she did visit the 2000 one and addressed AIP conventions in 2006 and 2008. Her husband, Todd, was a registered AIP member from 1995 to 2002, and the AIP leadership certainly considers her one of their own.
Don't forget what the founder of this group said about the country -

Over the years, Palin has actively courted the Alaska Independence Party, or AIP, a...

So your facts come from an opinion piece from the LA Times? Fact is she never was a member. But if you want to talk about ties to radicals, then I am more than willing to compare her ties to radicals to Obama's ties to radicals.

It seems that some are willing to tolerate even treason rather than face the hard facts. As I said, Palin as sidled up to secessionists. That is her choice, but that fact alone (not to mention all the other issues) makes her unqualified for the position of vice president of the UNITED States.

If that makes her unqualified, then doesn't buddying up with a known and unrepentant terrorist make Obama unqualified to be president? The left loves to fling mud at Palin in an attempt to put her in her place, but they don't like to make comparisons because she beats Obama in every way hands down.

hen doesn't buddying up with a known and unrepentant terrorist make Obama unqualified to be president?
How come Fox News and the Pentagon rely on Ollie North as a source of verification when there is plenty of evidence that US/NATO forces screwed up in Afghanistan?

I show you video and you come up is guilt by association? Except for the fact that they sat on the board of the same foundation, you got nothing else. So it is not mud, it is fact. You bring your facts to the table and then we talk. Otherwise don't make claims you can't back up, if you want to be taken seriously that is.

Doesn't it ever make one ponder that the 2 presidents who are routinely cited as the worst modern day presidents were individuals who moved straight from their executive role as governor into the White House?

I'm very tired of n2's lack of logic and historical understanding.

15 Presidents were U.S. Senators.
