That's right adults who can work with other adults stand to win big with the Obama administration.

Petulant children crying over a stinging election are relegated to the sidelines.

Republicans, your hope lies in moderation.

We wouldn't need any Republicans, moderate or otherwise, if Harry Reid would revoke his rule of needing 60 votes before a bill can be voted on and force the Rebubbacans to put up or shut up with their 2006 threat to filibuster every piece of legislation the Democrats put forward.

The Republicans did whatever the hell they wanted with 50 senators and Cheney's tie-breaking vote. We have 58 damn Senators. Enough!

Just sayin'.

Instead of "we", I should say "Democrats". Don't want to be presumptuous...

Thank you for your comment dulios.

I have been rather busy with work so I haven't been able to keep up with things as well as I would like. I have been wondering what was up with needing 60 votes to move forward and 60 votes to pass a bill.

That's f***ing ridiculous.

51% in Congress can make any law or rule it wants.

I totally agree with dulios about this. The Democrats in the Senate sound like wimps. If the 39 Republicans want to fillibuster, let them do so: fight it out.

Republicans were able to rule (misrule) totally with only 50- Senators; the Dems have no excuse anymore although it seems they would like one.

Maybe the rule should be changed; anyway, Obama got the 60 votes he needed to pass the legislation he wanted...that took care of it for now.

That 60 vote rule is called Cloture, a Parlimentary rule which was adopted by the U.S. Senate in response to fillibusters as far back as 1917. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloture

Yes cloture is the vote to stop debate and send a bill to be voted on for passage. There has just been some lax terminology used in reporting lately. On a recent ABC story they quoted Harry Reid as saying "I have the 60 votes needed to pass the bill".

Words like that make you wonder if something had changed, especially when I have been busier than usual lately.

I wish I had saved another article that was explaining that filibustering and cloture votes requirements are not set in stone and have changed from time to time. I recall the republicans threatening to end the filibuster and extracting a deal with Democrats that greatly favored the republicans. I guess President Obama is playing th...

No, moderation is cowardice when you believe in the enumerated powers of the constitution. Democrats do nothing but bastardize the constitution and steal from the general populace through confiscation of property (excessive progressive taxation). You are cowards who take from your fellow citizens to further your beliefs. Interesting that studies show conservatives give far more to charity than liberals.

The unstated fact about your claim that conservatives give far more to charity than liberals is that the statistic is based solely on IRS filings and claimed deductions. Amongst those deductions are donations to churches. There is absolutely no accounting for how the money donated to churches is spent.

My parents church wasted some $300,000 on a new organ that never benefited a person in need.

When I make a donation to Oxfam I know that 92% of every dollar is going to direct aid of individuals in need. When you donate to a church a huge chunk of that donation is directly to overhead of running the church.

Nice try starling but once again you haven't stopped to think about your "facts".
