invictus says: Actually, this is not an idea for Clipmarks team but for us users: We like this thing, right? For most of us, Clipmarks has become an essential "tool" just like Word or Winzip. So I think we can do better things for spreading the word (I know, most of us has already been doing this). Adding a "Cliproll" to our personal sites/blogs is fine. (We can also add cliprolls for specific tags, related to the content of our site, instead of just putting public cliproll.) We can place mini-banners or buttons on home pages. What I'll suggest is, about linking to news items or websites on our blog entries: I think, instead of directly linking to the news source, we can first clip that story/article etc. and then link to that specific clip at Clipmarks. It sounds like a good idea to me, for spreading the word more efficiently but I'd like to learn your opinion. Any "more creative" and smart ideas for letting other net folks to learn this cool thing called Clipmarks? thank you invictus. and to everyone who has already done so much to help spread the word about clipmarks. it sure means a lot to us...and really motivates us to keep earning your respect (even if we have now to beat google while we're at it I don't think adding cliprolls would be something that a lot of people would do. In other words, I like clipmarks a lot, but I sure the heck won't be placing any comments by someone I totally disagree with, regardless of the cause. I think the emphasis should be on driving the uneducated (on clipmarks) public to the site and letting it experience the service for themselves and use it if they think they want to. For that, banners, preferrably the animated kind would be nice (BBW I think should do the honors... perhaps if Clipmarks team can't pay him - they could auto-force all of his clipmarks into the POPular section for a year as the payment). Also, would be nice to have a simple button... yo, spread the word! http://www.seobythesea.com/?p=188 http://www.micropersuasion.com/2006/05/google_notebook.html http://techrageo.us/2006/05/16/google-notebook-ho-hum/ http://blog.arthuran.org/index.php/2006/05/16/google-notebook-launches/ http://jasonkolb.typepad.com/weblog/2006/05/google_notebook.html http://www.alistreview.com/2006/05/google_notebook_alisters_ambiv.html http://theory.isthereason.com/?p=976 http://www.metaticle.com/2006/05/google-notebook-just-another-unfinish-project/ http://www.phreaki.com/?postid=20 http://blogs.earthlink.net/2006/05/where_are_my_tagsgoogle.php http://searchviews.com/archives/2006/05/put_down_your_p.php http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/archives/2006/0... Wow, funana, great list! It's a good idea to start with these sites and write reviews for Clipmarks. RecordSage, I think Cliprolls will help people to see the fast and rich clip and information flow themselves. If I'd seen a thing like that on a website (without knowing Clipmarks) I think I would be interested and click on at least one of the links on the cliproll, then I'd see the core of the clipping thing and would like to join. You may be right, invictus, but as you well know you and I even have had some heated discussions on political issues. I don't want that kind of stuff showing on my site, which has nothing to do with politics. In fact, I'd argue that if someone like myself sees some of the messages - it would be a turn off to even try Clipmarks. I think having an honest description of what it does and pointing to where it can be found would be stronger proponent of getting people to Clipmarks than using Cliprolls. In fact, I'd argue that if someone like myself sees some of the messages - it would be a turn off to even try Clipmarks. On the other hand that might just be the thing that draws them in. Anyone can choose to ignore the commenting and simply use the links to the articles that interest them. However, many people, such as yourself, invictus, etc. enjoy a debate. I myself even get involved in them from time to time and it's keeps things interesting. I don't want that kind of stuff showing on my site, which has nothing to do with politics. IPlaying devils advocate... does your IT site have something to do with Takeout food or Kids because I see both on your fron... Oh, and let me just add that a friend of mine who is a god of design in my eyes (makes me look like a kid with crayons) did comment about the cliproll. He said at first he was tossed about it but after looking at it again said it added some motion and fresh content to the site and that he would keep it provided I could make it look more like a real part of the site. Thus my quest to perfect the art of cliproll CSS. BigBadWolf, the site isn't up to its extent yet. I've moved hosts and decided to completely redo how it'll look and function. So, please don't go snooping yet, since there's almost nothing there (yet), but it's coming and soon. You're looking at a single page that will be the main page, with a few links to existing things we do and a photo of my daughter, since I thought it looks like something that will put a smile on anyone looking at it. There's nothing about kids... anyway, getting off the topic here... sorry. It's coming and I'll let you know when I'm done, but the topic here isn't my site, but spreading the word on CM... And I commend you for your quest to perfect cliproll... RecordSage said:But Cliproll does not pull the comments & discussions to your web pages. It just displays the latest clips' titles. When people click on the link, they go directly to Clipmarks site and that particular clip. Invictus... exactly. The cliproll works for me and I like it. He has his own opinion and he's allowed to... even if he is wrong. Cute... I'll tell you what - you put the same emphasis in advertising my Takeout Online and Record Sage and I'll make sure the ClipRoll gets incorporated in there somewhere. |
