She also acknowledged that US efforts to ban drugs had so far been unsuccessful in stopping the narcotics trade.

"Clearly, what we have been doing has not worked and it is unfair for our incapacity... to be creating a situation where people are holding the Mexican government and people responsible," she said.

The BBC's Stephen Gibbs in Mexico says these points have been repeatedly made by Mexico, which sometimes sees itself as the setting for an American-financed and -armed war.

In a joint news conference with Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa in Mexico City, Mrs Clinton stressed the importance of working together to build a "common future".

I think if Hillary wants to take the blame for the drug problems in the U.S., she can take it for the government. After all, its been the government that won't finish that fence. It's been the government that convicts and jails our own border patrol for doing their job. It's our government that allows....oh God, I could write a book here. There's no end to the list of what our government has and hasn't done that contributes to the supply of drugs coming into our country from Mexico. And they still continue. By the sounds of things, they're even going to make it easier.

Chestnut, it's people like you that make the job so hard. Walls solve nothing. Germany learned that. Israel is trying its darnedest to *not* admit that they are learning that. The US holds the lion's share of the fault for the Mexican Drug Violence, and it's about time that an American politician actually started telling the truth. Walls won't solve the problems. Trigger-happy border guards and crackpot citizens with guns guarding the border won't solve the problem. Only dialogue, and bilateral action is going to stop it.

Stop blaming everyone but yourself for what is going wrong. Yes, I know that's the right-wing's fall-back position; passing the buck rather than taking responsibility, but...

As usual darkforce, You're making assumptions, being over sensitive and completely missing the point.
