Extinct is for ever, too. Oil + greed for profit = extinction.

The planet is looking forward to a period of self cleansing and returning to a balanced state, with lots of wonderful creatures. It hopes that nothing evolves with the attitude that it is the highest form of life and capable of no wrong.
In fact, it is against evolution after this first effort and will be doing everything it can to prevent it. Even thinking of becoming an evangelist, hoping denial will prevent.

Humans are adding to the amount of carbon in the atmosphere but global warming is also a natural occurrence. The Earth has experienced warming/cooling cycles for centuries.

The ocean can only absorb so much carbon before it too heats up adding to the the causal effect of humans.

We will never completely stop polluting the atmosphere, but by moving away from fossil fuels, sooner rather than later, we can slow global warming, but it will still happen.
