In some very real ways the internet and sites like clipmarks offer some of the only truly free press available. It's a way in which information can be archived as well as the liberated dialougue concerning what is being archived. As is the case with any community, there will be those who will have more or less charisma. There will be those that disagree and threaten the well being of the rest of the community. There will be those that will offend or entertain or just sit on the stoop and watch. But to me the freedom in the dialogue a... I'm gone for a couple of months and you kids screw up the sandbox! I'm ashamed of you! Sad it has come to this. I so enjoyed the intelligent debates on clipmarks for the first few months.  I guess I need to reiterrate why I use clipmarks. Share The Web! I believe ClipMarks should remain a Positive environment. Just because I decide to share a clip with others should not mean it should be Voided or deleted because it is not popular. That would mean I would need to double save most of my clips. What a waste. I can delete my own clips if I wish- perhaps you should delete your own if it fades away. Leave my archives alone! There should be a feature to create individual communities based on different people's taste and needs, each community will then have their own moderators to manage their own people however they wish. If I'm a republican who is hell bent on propagating Sean Limbaugh's sound bites on the fallacy of environmental changes, then I should be able to gather the people who'd believe in me and my stupidity. I sholdn't have to worry about democrats pounding on me just because I'm being ridiculous, but if I do, then I'd know how to deal with them however way I desire. You know what I mean? But, after you get settled in and are over your excitement of the brand new "find" of this great site that clip worthiness by "pops" is more determined by the "active poppers rather than the community as a whole, until more users become active poppers. Also, a person can learn much about the worthiness of their clips by finding that though they may have received no pops here it has been picked up by dozens of external feeds around the world. So, I say to the newbies, be patient, some of us just haven't gotten a chance to see your clips...and the active poppers are spending... All good points 123! This is something we were discussing last night. I'm not yet sure what we're going to do about it, but i expect to make some changes that will hopefully make the popping system more meaningful of a filter. |
