Actually it would be the Army and Marines. I don't think he would be far off though. There are more of them then of US troops. If both sides go at each other with who knows what types of weapons - it could be feasible.

I respect Gary Hart's opinion but I sense that the US strategy rather favors a "manageable chaos" caused by a civil war there, which would justify an extended period for the existence of coalition forces on Iraq soil. So I believe army and navy should have already been prepared for the worst circumstances with a possible set of B, C and D plans.
