For over three decades, Privette has been one of the best known and most outrageous spokesmen for “family values” and Christian extreme right politics in North Carolina. In the 1970s, he was serving as minister at the North Kannapolis Baptist Church when he joined the tide of evangelicals entering politics that included the Moral Majority and Christian Coalition. He served in the N.C. Legislature from 1984 to 1992, and has been a member of the board of commissioners in Cabarrus County since 1998

Alcohol and gambling are bad. Prostitution, not so much.

Privette was a state representative from 1984 to 1992 and has been a strong opponent of liquor by the drink, gambling and illegal immigration. He had been interim director of missions for Rowan Baptist Association until July 19, when an association spokesman said he was "no longer" in that position but would give no further details.

Again, its all about situational morality. Somebody does it, they should be run out of town with pitchforks, but when "we" do it, we ask for forgiveness and wait until the spotlight passes so we can do it all over again.
