Some things are ignored by the media because they are close enough to people to depress,and frighten them. As a result they remain a problem until they become a critical issue and the media will call for someone's head with no result. The news can tend to cater to interest groups and demographics. I kept comparing it to the way the net is less confined by boundaries. A wider audience of people who are concerned about an issue such as this, can learn more accurate details, communicate personally to those involved, develop networks and links between problems and solutions.
