The sex-offender list is practically worthless given all the crimes that can land a person's name on there. A 17-year-old boy having sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend? Sex Offender! Is that kid a threat to my child? mostly likely no. Until they can list the specifics of a crime, there is no way to know if "indecency with a minor" means a credible threat or not. It is infuriating. mousie...I saw a case like that with a young man who use to be a neighbor kid. No, he's not a sex offender unless it involved rape. However, from what our state database looks like, it's easy to spot the more serious offenders. When it says "predator" beside their picture, that's when your radar needs to go up. 77 arrested. Thats a good day! Where is the site for checking on these people? Several years ago I was pointed to our local Police Dept. and typed in sex offenders. You can type in your zip code and see which ones are registered and are within your area. It was eye-opening. There were 3 men on there whom I knew...but never knew!!
