What do you think about Huckabee?. I'm not all that impressed with him....I dunno meh Just to clarify, I like Huckabee. But as a presidential candidate, I'd put him maybe just a tad better than McCain. In other words, meh. I like Huckabee too, I might lean towards him, but Romney might be a close second. One thing for sure, they will all be watched very carefully. I don't know but I sense we've learned nothing. We will settle for what's available. He's sharper and more congenial than Bush and more aware of how image may be perceived as fanatical, more aware of how the public sees him. He seems pretty honest, but what does he really know about real mainstream America?-(whatever, exactly, that means). Let's not open the door to the "hypocrite Christian" motif again. He starts to fill spots with rigid rightwingers and we stay divided. The great thing about Reagan was he could mention God and traditional values without seeming like he lived solely in that world ~ or was out to pretend that he did. Can't we find someone, somewhere who can, while being pa... This is what gives me caution. Not that many of us might react in the same way to the same dangerous snake-oil, but that people might react in their own brand of emotionally driven disassociation because they grasp on to a distorted interpretation of what it is they think may "save" their past perceptions, their old beliefs out of a sense of nostalgia, or of a history they believe has been lost. We can't look to ANYONE to salvage any of that for us, or to return us to our "best of times". These are personal issues.Just because they've gone so far to the fringe doesn't mean we have to react in kind. Or that we have to go "kick some ass" to counteract the prior appeasers. Let's look for candi... I've waaaaay gone off on a rant. I apologize. I said, "we've learned nothing" a bit too quickly. Especially noting your comment that they'd be watched very closely. That IS a good sign. And, yes, they sure must be watched VERY closely, I agree. Let's look for candidates with solemn reserve, educated, confidence, common sense, and who can confound them simply without seeming to try. In fact that won't even be his/her agenda. The agenda will be just doing the right thingI agree with you...it will be quite the challenge come 2012..but I think all politicians have learned a great lesson with this administration..at least lets hope so...Americans will be watching and following closely. Not for a heartbeat do I believe that Pres. Bush was not intelligent or congenial. He was doomed from the get-go. Personally, I liked him very much and he never embarrassed me as President. That being said, Huckabee is a nice guy. Christians (I am one) would vote for him easily. However such an overtly Christian candidate probably would not be electable. I don't believe that there is a candidate on the conservative scene (except dare I say Sarah?) who has the strength and will to make the difficult decisions and push them forward. Huckabee strikes me as too nice. I don't want nice. I want Leadership!!! And I want my Country back...from the greenies, the globalists, from the Chinese,... Wake up, people. Please, wake up. Huckabee is a disaster. He's another Progressive (R), even more so than Bush. It couldn't possibly get worse than it is now Will........... Yes, It can. |
