I like him because of both his involvement with neuroscience, and his skepticism regarding external promises of helping one develop a life of one's own, be this externalism in the form of healers, gurus, magic cures or whatever: the call if for the individual to be a light to themselves, to explore themselves, to eschew bitter and hateful words or thoughts, and to have compassion.
