AtlLiberal says: No matter what mental rationalization you've thought up the bottom line is that science and religion are at odds with one another. Ask anyone who has waded through the tortured reasoning of theists to reconcile their beliefs with scientific facts knows that believing in talking snakes, burning bushes, Jewish zombies, or virgin births has to forgo reality and enter a world of myth and fairy tales. Ordinarily this could be viewed as simply a character quirk. But unfortunately it has wider reaching consequences. We are dumbing down our children because of irrational belief in a bronze age culture's view of the world. In our society, ignorance is thought charming while intelligence is "elitism". How ass backwards is this? I am convinced that the role of faith is to enslave the minds of people. It prevents knowledge from happening, thereby keeping its children ignorant of the power of knowledge. The church wants to keep power. Education challenges slavery and power. Education is freedom. No church teaches freedom but slavery to an invisible being whose promise of immortality comes ...after... you die! If immortality is real, why must it be established in a way that can't be verified? If immortality is real, why can't it be demonstrated while still alive? Wow... I don't even know where to begin on your comments. So I won't. Just know that there is something much deeper at work in your lines of reasoning, and you folks should go see somebody... Or chill... Or something. Just know that there is something much deeper at work in your lines ofWhat could that be? This "something"? Is it delusion? Satan? And what's with the chill? Is that because you are offended. What is your take? Come on, we're all waiting to know. Instead of derision, how about some input? @ rfnajera, please, find a place to start. Religion depends on blind acceptance. Most are based on fear. They all make claims which often conflicts with findings in science. Some people will try and reconcile the two, but honestly, religion fails regardless if it embraces science or denies it. To deny it only shows ignorance and delusion. To embrace it only weakens the early belief systems, showing it for the ignorant mysticism it was. There is absolutely nothing that religion offers to humanity that humanity cannot have without religion. Wow... I don't even know where to begin on your comments.Like Oortcloud said, Please find a place to start. If the comments are out of line, please correct them. Or are you too scared to listen to your mind trying to rationalize it, so you just don't think about it? As usual, nothing but the sound of crickets ... |
