TIME Magazine has published a photo essay, "Al Gore's American Life," which shows former U.S. Vice President and current Apple Inc. Board of Directors member Al Gore's personal computer setup which features no less than three 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Displays which are each capable of 2560 x 1600 resolution:

I think I am envious...except for the clutter.

What is that garish thing above the TV? A frog?

The right never lets its guard down, does it.
The difference often is that the right censures their most obvious hypocrites, while the left celebrates theirs. Besides, when energy consumption becomes one of your favorite sermons, isn't this a fair question?

The right censors their most obviouis hypocrites?

During the 2000 campaign, George W. Bush argued against nation building and foreign military entanglements. In the second presidential debate, he said: "I'm not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say, 'This is the way it's got to be.'"

The United States is currently involved in nation building in Iraq on a scale unseen since the years immediately following World War II.

During the 2000 election, Mr. Bush called for U.S. troops to be withdrawn from the NATO peacekeeping mission in the Balkans. His administration now cites such missions as an example of how America must "stay the course."

Is there a conditioner in his room...to fight global warming?

I was just theorizing this yesterday. It seemed to me people that do not think clearly tend to be messy and disorderly. I wonder if the chart on the easel is his evidence for global warming and everything on his desk is unopened mail and packages showing global warming to be non-anthropogenic.

Yeah, BR, great example. It's not like there was some event that shook the US in.....oh, I don't know, say September of 2001....that may have caused people of all ideologies to re-examine their positions.

Think beyond your mere hate for GW and compare the treatment of a Bob Packwood or a Duke Cunningham with that of a Gerry Studds or William Jefferson. Then defend argue the point in terms of like actions, not mere policy re-directions.

Might as well go beat your head into a brick wall. It is less painful and more productive.

Think beyond your own prejudices cniq.

Afghanistan was the war to fight after Sept. 11.

Iraq was nation building.

Regarding Packwood, indiscretions were first known in 1992 and then:

As with the Foley case, a news organization got hold of the Packwood story weeks before the 1992 elections. But when Packwood vehemently denied (lied about) the accusations, the Washington Post held it until after the election. Once he was safely re-elected the story broke.

When his pattern of sexually assaulting staffers, lobbyists, elevator operators, and others came to light, Packwood did what any honorable Republican would do--he blamed it on booze, and went to rehab. Sound familiar?

In the Packwood case, there were similar calls for an immediate ethics investigation, and the Senate...

What does it matter if it is coming from green sources or if it is being offset by carbon trading (ie: buying green energy elsewhere to offset...)

You just like to attack Gore for anything. Yes, he should live in the stone ages because he thinks we should be GREENER. That doens't mean giving up all the things we use every day.

You guys seem to have missed the point.

I'll spell it out for you .. again....

There are things we cal all do to reduce our effect on the environment. Little things.. Like replacing light bulbs with more efficient ones. Like driving more fuel efficient cars, car pooling, taking pub...

First, carbon offsets are a scam. And with Gore they are even a bigger scam because he is buying carbon offsets from himself.

Second, if where he lives is like where I live, there is a limit to the amount of green energy available. So if one person is hogging it all up, that means someone else is forced to use energy from regular sources. If he uses 20 times the energy of an average household, that means there are 19 average households who don't have green energy available to them.

Third, you pretend to assume you know about my energy consumption, but you don't have a clue.
Actually, I never said a thing about YOUR energy consumption. If you are doing all that, good for you.

My "clue in" comment was aimed at your mis-understanding of Gore's message.

Offets are a shell game. I'll use as much energy as I like but pay someone else not to consume energy they didn't wish to consume in the first place. Now I don't feel guilty about my energy use and may even be emboldened to use more energy since I can offset it elsewhere. Instead of reduced consumption you have encouraged apathy and increased consumption.

I switched over to only using one square myself. Of course I also switched to using Bounty, after all it is the quicker picker-upper.
